8 Tips for Basketball Success
Success on the court comes from your willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team succeed. When you as a player put the team in front of your own personal goals it show not only your coach, but your team your level of dedication.
Remember, "No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care."
Play to Your Strengths
Let’s be honest, not everyone can shoot like Steph Curry. Do what you're good at. Work at strengthening your strengths and continuously work on your weaknesses during practice.
Hustle and Work Hard
Work hard on the court and don't be afraid to get on the ground and dive after loose balls.
Take the Charge
When you take a charge, it provides a defensive stop and gets your team the ball. It can also affect the opposing team psychologically.
Tough Defense
Shut down opposing players..
Box Out
Boxing out low on the body offsets the oppositions center of gravity. By stretching your arms out, getting around the box out is more difficult and increases your chance of securing the rebound.
Good Shots
A good shot is an open shot that you can make. Look for the scoring opportunities when no one else on your team has a chance for a better or open shot. Never take a shot that you don’t think you can make.
Extra Passes
When you make the extra pass you will find yourself getting more passes from your teammates, because they recognize and appreciate your unselfishness.
Be a Great Teammate
If your teammates like you, you are more likely to play better together and create great chemistry amongst the team and during game time.
